If you or your child is interested in learning how to play drums, please consider studying with me! My name is Peggy Scalzo, and I’m a drummer based in the Western NY area. I have over 30 years of experience playing & teaching drums, with many of my students having gone on to professional music careers. I offer lessons both In-Person (at my teaching studio), Remote (via Zoom with a 4-camera setup), or a mix of the two. Every lesson is video-recorded and has written notes specific to the material covered in that lesson, and every student has a private online folder to access both the recorded video and notes.
My teaching practice is based around the fundamentals of good technique, reading music, & being able to play well in any situation. For beginners, I don’t teach to a particular style of music or the latest trendy sound – we start with the basics. I want my students to have a solid foundation that allows them to play to the best of their ability, whether it’s a Snare Drum solo for a school competition, a Drum Set audition for a college music program, or anything in between! For more advanced players or even professionals, I work on refining their technique and ‘feel’ so they can confidently perform at their best.
