Hudson Music announces the release of Bobby Morris: My Las Vegas

Hudson Music is proud to announce the autobiography of drumming legend and rock’n’roll innovator Bobby Morris, My Las Vegas with Elvis, Sinatra, Streisand, Darin, Prima and More.

Morris’ life story takes you on a journey that is almost beyond belief; an odyssey that began as a young immigrant from Poland arriving on Ellis Island not knowing a word of English. He learned the drums, and leaving home as a teenager during the height of the Great Depression, carved out a music career. Morris witnessed the birth of bebop coming from Harlem, and is himself credited with laying down some of the very first beats of rock’n’roll. Hearing about a “little town” out west called Las Vegas, Morris arrived there in 1950 and established himself in the music and entertainment management worlds, ascending to accompanist to the greatest stars of all time: Judy Garland, Barbra Streisand, Bobby Darin, Frank Sinatra—when Vegas was Vegas. A key member of Louis Prima’s Witnesses, Morris eventually became the conductor and friend of Elvis Presley. He rubbed elbows with American presidents, playing the Kennedy Inauguration and befriending a young B-movie actor performing in Vegas named Ronald Reagan.

It seems everyone has a “Vegas story”—but this one spanned a lifetime. A tale of direction, determination, practice, and perseverance, it’s also a story of seizing the moment and walking through the unbelievable doors opened by the world of music—and an incredible tour through the history of the 20th century, encountering names like Eddie Fisher, Liberace, Peter Lawford, Ed Sullivan, Buddy Rich, Sam Giancana, and many more.
